ROUTINE FILLERS

I Have Caries In My Tooth. I Need To Fill. What are the Types of Fillers?

There are many types of dental fillings on the market;

 Amalgam (Silver colored)

 Composite (Tooth colored)

 Glass Ionomer (Tooth colored)

 Gold inlays and onlays (Golden colored)

 Porcelain Inlays (Tooth colored)

Are There Any Risks With Amalgam Fillings?

Since it is combined with other materials in the amalgam filling, mercury has no toxic effect. Since its chemical form has changed, it has become harmless. The issue of dental amalgam safety has been studied for over a hundred years. To date, it has not been found that it can cause a medical problem in line with the reports obtained about dental amalgam.

What are Composite Fillings?

The composite dollar is durable; however, their durability is not as effective as amalgam fillings in the long term. Composite fillings are tooth-colored and contain glass quartz, silica or other ceramic particles added to the resin infrastructure. After the decayed parts of the tooth are cleaned, the composite filling is bonded to the remaining tooth tissue and hardened by light exposure. The dentist chooses a color from the color scale to determine the natural color of your teeth. Over time, there may be superficial discoloration in composite fillings. It is known that white (composite) fillings are always shorter-term than amalgam fillings. However, today, while the contents are changed and strengthened, composite fillings show equal strength with amalgam fillings. The lifespan of a white filling varies depending on which teeth area it is in and how far the teeth in the opposing jaw meet when biting.
